Developed by the Portuguese Environment Agency, the program is founded on a holistic and integrated approach to coastal monitoring, ensuring systematic and standardized data acquisition along the mainland Portugal coastline, encompassing beaches, dunes, nearshore seabeds, and coastal cliffs.
Operational since 2018, the initiative aims to generate high-quality geospatial information to enhance understanding of the morphological dynamics of beaches, dunes, and cliffs.
Data collection campaigns are conducted using aerial, terrestrial, and maritime platforms at predefined locations, with a particular focus on areas of heightened vulnerability and risk to people and assets.
The acquired datasets are processed and analyzed by specialists in topographic engineering, geospatial engineering, hydrography, coastal geology, and geotechnics.
Final products are delivered as geospatial information and made freely available to registered users through this platform.
